Rainbow Bridge on Donner Pass

Want to take some amazing pictures of Donner Lake?  Well Rainbow Bridge is where its at.  This historic bridge was designed by Norman Raab who coincidentally designed many bridges on Pacific Coast Highway AKA PCH or HWY 1.  The terrain in the area is really for all age levels with low and steep grades depending on how difficult you want to make your hike.  The area is know for its Petroglyphs, rock climbing, and abandoned train tunnels. There are plenty of information placards around the area to help keep you informed of the various sites.

During the winter time this area of Donner Pass (HWY 40) is sometimes closed so its advised you check the road conditions in advance of heading out.

Rainbow Bridge is 4 miles from Lola. Head down Lola Montez towards Donner Pass and take a left onto Donner Pass.  Take Donner pass about 4 miles.  You will see the historic bridge from the road there is parking at the end of the bridge and slightly down the road.  On weekends you will see plenty of car parked on the side of the road and visitors!
