China Wall at Donner Summit

Down Highway 40 right after crossing Rainbow Bridge you will come to the China Wall, a memorial to Chinese laborers who helped unite the Central Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad in the Sierra’s. This area is a well known rockclimbing area and you are sure to find them scaling the rocks/boulders all over the area. The area is great for hikers of all levels and provides some amazing views of Donner Lake.  There are no real trail heads so feel free to do some discovering and wander around.  Its a great place to spend the day then head down to Donner Lake to cool off!

China Wall is 4 miles from Lola. Head down Lola Montez towards Donner Pass and take a left onto Donner Pass.  Take Donner pass about 4 miles.  You will see the historic bridge from the road there is parking at the end of the bridge and slightly down the road.  On weekends you will see plenty of car parked on the side of the road and visitors!
